The Illini Heat Cross Country Club is a youth organization based in Central Illinois providing cross country coaching to local area youth.  All youth between the ages of 7 and 18 are welcome to join.   Illini Heat is a track club sanctioned by the USA Track & Field (USATF) which is the national governing body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States. It is highly recommended that athletes have a genuine interest in the sport and be prepared to deal with challenging workouts.  Exceptional athletic ability is not a pre-requisite and there are no entry or tryout requirements to join.  A great attitude, not great ability, is the single best predictive factor for a great club experience.  A number of opportunities for competition are provided during the season, but the emphasis is on each athlete setting and reaching his or her personal goals.

The objective of the Illini Heat Track Club is to help promote and contribute in the physical, emotional, and social development of our athletes through their involvement. Physical conditioning and learning skills related to track and field are only part of what we offer.  Our athletes will also be part of our team which encourages and promotes new friendships, good sportsmanship, and self-esteem, and improve their personal level of physical conditioning while learning track and field skills.

What We Need From Parents

Our Executive Board members administer the Illini Heat Track Club.  The club and families must work together to provide a positive experience for each athlete.  We need families to share and take an active part in knowing what is going on in the club. There will be someone to answer all of your questions either at the practices, meets or through our Contacts link.  In order for us to continue to make improvements in our club, feedback is encouraged.

We need parents to be involved in more ways than encouraging your athlete.
Fundraisers – Need ideas, help and organizers
Sponsors – companies or individual
